The Dangers of Using Non-Satelec Accessories on Satelec Devices

Satelec has always designed tips that respect the tooth’s anatomy and vibrate in perfect harmony with the handpiece.  And while there’s no denying that a ‘brand X’ tip might cost less than a genuine Satelec tip, Acteon would like to remind everyone that you should only use genuine Satelec tips with all Acteon Satelec ultrasonic generators.

It must be understood that a tip is not simply a piece of metal screwed onto a handpiece to make it vibrate. The use of non-genuine tips with Satelec ultrasonic generators will lead to the loss of clinical efficiency, and a high risk in regards to patient welfare.

There are a number of dangers inherent with the use of non-genuine tips, among them the breakage of tips which can lead to the ingestion of the tip fragment by the patient or - more seriously - the fragment reaching the lungs.  This unfortunate incident has already occurred with counterfeit / copy tips and has led to a serious surgical intervention.

Understandably, Acteon Satelec’s liability (both legal and warranty of damaged parts and accessories) cannot be honoured for damages that arise from the use of any other than genuine Satelec accessories.
