In addressing both patients and dentists’ concerns about Bis-GMA-based restorative materials, Kulzer invented the filling materials Venus® Pearl and Venus® Diamond which are based on a patented TCD-urethane chemistry. The development of this innovative new chemistry was driven by the inherent limitations of the Bis-GMA resin and a need for higher mechanical properties as well as lower shrinkage stress. With this innovative and definitely biocompatible formula, Kulzer has heralded a new generation of composites that impress with minimum shrinkage, high strength and outstanding surface hardness while being easy and convenient to handle.
Both Venus® Diamond and Venus® Pearl have an extended working time under the operating light and don’t stick to instruments.Sculpting both direct and indirect restorations is easier, making the dentist’s work more efficient. On top of it all, these composites shine with the perfect aesthetics of their restorations.
The Venus composites of the new generation exhibit very good results in comparative studies concerning high flexural strength, low shrinkage stress, colour adaptation and radiopacity. They are perfectly suitable for both single-shade and multi-layering techniques. Furthermore, the composites have different consistencies, enabling dentists to choose according to their personal preference.Venus® Diamond is the most firm, while Venus® Pearl offers a more creamy consistency. Venus® Diamond Flow is their flowable complement. Based on yet another chemistry, it is free of bis-GMA, too. All three show perfect modelling and polishing properties and are, of course, compatible with all commercially available adhesive and bonding techniques. Putting it in a nutshell, they are perfect for those users who expect more from state-of-the-art restorations.
